Paiwan Every Day 398: qeceng // qemeceng

qemeceng a kisacu i sakinting tua inika kacalisiyan.

Free translation
The police stops non-indigenous people at the checkpoint.

Word gloss
  1. q<em>eceng: stop, actor voice (AV). The root is qeceng 'stop, block'.
  2. a: subject case marker
  3. kisacu: police, loanword from Japanese けいさつ警察.
  4. i: in or at, locative (LOC)
  5. sakinting: check point. I think this is a combination of Paiwan prefix sa- 'in direction of' and Japanese loanword てんけん点検.
  6. tua: oblique (OBL) case marker
  7. inika: not
  8. ka-calisi-yan: hill people or indigenous people. The root is calisi 'hill, slope'.
